Jamie is a commercial litigation associate at Simmonds Law with a focus on general litigation, business law, and tax law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Literature and a minor in Latin from Carleton University, where he actively participated as a tutor and competed in several Mock Trial competitions with the Carleton Moot Team.
Jamie earned his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, Faculty of Law, where he engaged in various moot competitions, including the Davies Securities and Corporate Law Moot. His coursework emphasized contract law, business law, trusts, and taxation, which led to a strong interest in tax law and its role in commercial disputes.
Before joining Simmonds Law, Jamie completed his summer internship and articles at a full-service business firm in Ottawa, serving clients throughout the greater Ottawa area. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2024 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
Jamie has a particular interest in tax litigation and enjoys working on complex tax disputes for businesses and individuals.
Outside of work, he enjoys a diverse rotation of hobbies, including canoeing, camping, learning guitar, studying French, collecting records, cycling, cooking, film, social dancing, and creative writing. Jamie can be reached at jpudwell@simmondslaw.ca
